 From our Regatta Director, Kelly

Welcome to the second annual Beak of the Chick Regatta, hosted by Williamsburg Boat Club. We wanted to create a fun regatta that is an unusual distance (not your 1000th 2k or 5k regatta) and use it to foster a greater sense of cohesion within our rowing community. The course begins at our bridge, runs 1500 meters north on the Chickahominy River, cuts across the river, and comes back down finishing at the bridge. Racing is in time trial format. All ages of rower and classifications of boats are welcome.

This year we will host the "Beak, Beer & BBQ Festival" with local craft beer and bbq food truck vendors.  We will feature our "Beast of the Beak" Fitness Challenge hosted by Crossfit 1607.  We are also proud to open The Regatta with our signature charity event, "Mark and Finley's Bridge Chase," a non-competitive, time-trial, rowing event. The Regatta concludes with a fun "Anything-That-Paddles", Bridge Chase on a modified course. All proceeds of these two events are donated to CHKD for pediatric medical research and services.

The Beak of the Chick is held at the Chickahominy Riverfront Park in Williamsburg, Virginia, one of North America's most popular vacation destinations. The Chickahominy is a wide river and the course is buoyed and uncomplicated, allowing for a wonderful rowing experience for all ages and stages of rowers.

Water Recreation

The park offers a public pool, and a 290-foot lighted fishing pier that’s available for use 24 hours a day and a catch-and-release pond. A fresh water license is required for all fishing in the park for anyone over the age of 16. The park also features a boat ramp to launch personal watercraft and it’s also available for use 24 hours a day. Please stop in the Guest Services Office or use the boat ramp honor box outside the store to pay the boat ramp fee. Canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available for rent all year.
